“Sharing Family History by Blogging” Susan is a long time friend so I attended to show my support for her new career. I've always enjoyed reading her blogs, but until her lecture I was content to post my family history the old fashioned way .. on my website. Sue's presentation was filled with her passion for the benefits she sees from blogging and her introduction into setting up a blog seemed so simple .. I came home and had a page up and running in about an hour. Ofcourse I've been tinkering with the design to fit my own ideas of graphic design most of the afternoon .. it is fun to experiment with all of the blog features in Blogger.com. I have travelled extensively researching my family and sometimes the piles of information are overwhelming and time consuming to gather together for the website and I saw immediately how a Blog can allow for small bites of information and a photo to be put together and published quickly (I've found people don't always sift through the many pages of my website to see all of the good stuff). I also liked the idea that the blogs are picked up quickly by the search engines and Sue provided great genealogy blogger lists where I can get the blog out to other people specifically interested in genealogy. Thanks Sue .. your lecture was truly inspiring :)

Susan recently presented “Sharing Family History by Blogging” for us at the W. Dale Clark branch of Omaha Public Library, and we have had many enthusiastic comments from our patrons. She was well-organized and entertaining, and did a good job of showing both why you might want to start a family history blog and how to go about it. We enjoyed her stories of genealogical discoveries made through her blog, and I personally got some valuable ideas on how to improve my own blog! On the administrative side, she was wonderful to work with: she arrived early--better prepared than I was, I might add—was highly professional and comfortable with the technical aspects of her presentation, and answered every e-mail promptly. I am already looking forward to having her back again next year.

I enjoyed the whole day at the Land Records & Genealogy Symposium 2011 and learned a lot from the presentations. But I especially enjoyed and learned from your "Blogging: Share What You Know!". I've had a Family History blog for several years now but used it mostly for our PAF Users group. Since we don't meet anymore I haven't kept up on my blog. But your presentation inspired me to want to do more so I am going to get active again in my "Blogging". Thanks for a GREAT performance! Howard N Camp Lincoln, Nebraska

Susan gave a basic yet thorough overview of why blogging matters in the genealogy community. The presentation slides were excellent as was Susan's delivery - she wasn't looking for converts to blogging but she did want the audience to understand why more and more genealogists are opting to place their stories and research in a blog. For me, the best part of Susan's presentation was her ability to demonstrate through actual examples of genealogical serendipity how she has been able to connect with cousins and other genealogy researchers through her blog.
