Founder and Chairwoman, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

Alice Walton is founder of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and chairwoman of its board of directors. She envisioned creating a significant art museum in her hometown of Bentonville, Ark., so that people of the region would have ready access to great works of art. Crystal Bridges opened in 2011 and has welcomed more than 1.3 million visitors. More than 38,000 schoolchildren have taken part in the museum’s school visit program. Walton also serves as a board member of the Amon Carter Museum and is a member of the Trustees’ Council of the National Gallery of Art.
