Abby Ferber  

Author, Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs

Abby L. Ferber is Associate Director of The Matrix Center for the Advancement of Social Equity and Inclusion, and Professor of Sociology and Women's and Ethnic Studies at University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Her research, teaching and service all coalesce around issues of inequality, privilege, and the intersections of race, gender and sexuality. She is the co-founder and co-facilitator of the annual Knapsack Institute: Transforming Teaching and Learning. She works with Universities around the country to create inclusive learning environments.

Ferber is the author of numerous books including: White Man Falling: Race, Gender, and White Supremacy; Home-Grown Hate: Gender and the White Supremacist Movement; and co-editor of Privilege: A Reader (now in it's third edition); Making A Difference: University Students of Color Speak Out; The Matrix Reader; and Sex, Gender and Sexuality: The New Basics. She also co-authored Hate in America: What Do We Know?, a publication of the American Sociological Association.

She is the founding editor of Understanding and Dismantling Privilege, an on-line journal. Ferber is widely published in academic journals and news outlets. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of two non-profits The Privilege Institute and Youth Celebrate Diversity.
