Abigail Harrison

Founder of The Mars Generation, STEM Advocate, Internet Personality & Aspiring Astronaut

Abigail Harrison, a.k.a. Astronaut Abby, is a research scientist at Harvard Medical School, co-founder and President of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Mars Generation, and a social media influencer with over 1 million followers. Harrison was recognized by Forbes as one of their 30 Under 30 recipients in 2019 for the education category.

Harrison's work as an influencer spans projects that include brands such as Microsoft, Nissan, Disney, Hulu, Samsung, Orbitz, Oculus Rift, 3M, Dunkin', Lego, Eggo and many others. She is the only influencer (known to TMG) that donates 100% of her earnings as an influencer to charity, with her earnings funding The Mars Generation outreach initiatives.

In 2011, at age 13, Harrison began sharing her lifelong dream of becoming one of the first astronauts to Mars online and has built a community of more than one million followers and fans who support her dreams. To expand this community of support to inspire others, Harrison established a worldwide outreach initiative in 2013 to engage students about space, STEM and dreaming big. She turned this outreach program into The Mars Generation in 2015 – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a goal to inspire young people (and all people) to dream big and also serve as a catalyst to identify students with an interest in these areas and nurture their study in STEM education.

Harrison is recognized as a leader in the space community, working as a space ambassador herself with a focus on educating and exciting people around the world about the importance of space exploration to the future of humankind.
