Adam Lowry is the co-founder of Method Products, alongside Eric Ryan. He is the chief greenskeeper at Method.
Lowry believes that business is our greatest vehicle for positive social and environmental change. First and foremost an entrepreneur and change agent, Lowry has a proven track record of innovation across multiple categories and consumer segments. As Chief Greenskeeper, Lowry's focus is bringing sustainable innovations to the method business. He also directs the sustainability aspects of product design, sourcing, and production, and provides strategic input for consumer marketing and the press.
When Lowry and Ryan founded Method, the environmentally friendly brand of cleaning products, they used packaging stylish enough to showcase on the countertop and pleasant aromas such as green tea and cucumber to transform household products into must-have lifestyle accessories. And when they coined the phrase “People Against Dirty,” they weren’t just talking about the stuff you track in on your shoes, they also meant the toxic chemicals that make up many household detergents.
Their first book, "Squeaky Green," is a totally informative and completely entertaining room-by-room guide to giving dirty the boot. Packed with helpful tips and surprising facts, "Squeaky Green" is rehab for chemically dependent homes.
Prior to founding Method, Lowry worked as a climate scientist at the Carnegie Institution, developing software products for the study of global climate change. That experience, combined with his earlier experience designing automotive products made from biodegradable materials and recycled content, formed the nucleus of his unique approach to commercial environmentalism that forms the foundation of Method’s approach today.
Lowry holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University and resides in San Francisco with his wife, Mara, and daughter, Kenning.
