Adam Sandler, an actor, writer, and comedian, embarked on his career in the entertainment industry in 1987. Sandler was a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series "Saturday Night Live" from 1990 to 1995, a stint that catapulted him into his successful Hollywood career. He has starred in numerous comedic roles, with his films grossing over $2 billion worldwide. Some noteworthy roles include those in "Billy Madison," "Happy Gilmore," "The Waterboy," "The Wedding Singer," "50 First Dates," and "Grown Ups."
While renowned for his comedic roles, Sandler has also demonstrated his abilities as a dramatic actor in films like "Punch-Drunk Love," "Reign Over Me," "The Meyerowitz Stories," "Uncut Gems," and "Hustle." His performance in animated films such as the "Hotel Transylvania" franchise, where he provided the voice for Dracula, and the Netflix film "Leo" further underscores his versatility. In 2023, this breadth of talent was recognized with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
