Adam Savage has a diverse career as a Hollywood Special Effects Designer, having contributed to notable films such as "Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones" and "The Matrix Reloaded." His work extends beyond movies; Savage has held positions as an animator, graphic designer, carpenter, projectionist, film developer, television presenter, set designer, toy designer, and gallery owner. He also served as a model maker for "Galaxy Quest," "Bicentennial Man," and "Space Cowboys," showcasing his broad range of skills in visual design and fabrication.
In addition to his film and television career, Savage is well-known for his role as co-host and executive producer of "MythBusters." This involvement not only made him a popular figure in science and engineering circles but also highlighted his ability to engage and educate audiences. He employs his lively and energetic demeanor to complement the more reserved style of his co-host, Jamie Hyneman, adding a dynamic element to the show. Savage also appeared in films including a helpful engineer in the 2001 movie "Ever Since the World Ended" and as an army surplus store owner in "The Darwin Awards" (2006), the latter also featuring Jamie Hyneman.
Beyond entertainment, Savage is an accomplished author, with titles like "Every Tool's a Hammer: Life is What You Make It," which is a New York Times bestseller. He is the editor-in-chief of Tested.com and hosts the YouTube channel Tested, exploring topics in science, pop culture, and technology. His influence extends into academia and public service as he sits on the boards of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the Center for Policing Equity, and he is an advisor to the California Academy of Sciences. Savage provides insights into creativity and science at various events, encouraging audiences to transform curiosity into creation.
