Visual artist

Adriane Herman is a visual artist whose work investigates the phenomenon of consumption through appropriated imagery and media. Her work ranges from the edible (inkjet-printed sweets) to the archival (To-Do lists), as in Checking It Twice, her solo exhibition at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art.She works independently to normalize consumption of fine art and collaboratively with efforts such as Slop Art and projects undertaken with her students. Herman has taught BFA and MFA students at Kansas City Art Institute and Maine College of Art, where she is currently an associate professor. Herman curated the 2010 exhibition Mind-Bending with the Mundane at MECA’s Institute of Contemporary Art.
