Aeneas Williams

Former NFL Cornerback and Free Safety, Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014

Aeneas Williams is a former American football cornerback and free safety who was exceptionally skilled in intercepting the football.

Williams attended Southern University where he focused on his academics, not playing football until his senior year, as a graduate student. That year, he tied the NCAA Division I-AA record for most interceptions.

Williams had an exceptional rookie season in 1991, tying the NFL lead for interceptions while playing for the Phoenix Cardinals.  Williams had four Pro Bowl appearances. In 2001, Williams went over to the St. Louis Rams and learned the free safety position.

Aeneas Williams, after a disappointing season which he ended on the injured reserve list,  retired during the 2005 offseason. Over his career he accumulated an amazing 12 defensive touchdowns (9 interceptions returned for a touchdown, and 3 fumbles recovered for touchdowns), and 55 career interceptions, affirming his place as one of the most dominating defensive backs of his era.

Pastor Aeneas retired from football in 2004, but he continues to spread his message through speaking engagements across the country to NFL teams such as New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens and others. Several Corporations and Ministries have engaged his speaking services as well. All is secondary to his job as Pastor of The Spirit Church in St. Louis, Missouri where he has garnered respect as a leader and role model because of his tireless and extensive outreach in the community. He and his wife, Tracy, have three daughters Saenea, Tirzah, Cheyenne and son Lazarus.
