Aisha Alexander is a modern day renaissance woman who specializes in execution and results. Aisha is the Community Engagement Analyst for KaBOOM!, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving play for America's children through creating playspaces with the participation and leadership of communities. In her role, Aisha focuses on continually maximizing the impact of the KaBOOM! community-build model, in order empower sustained advocates for play and engaged community leadership. Aisha formly served as the Operations Director for the City of Charlotte, Neighborhood & Business Services, managing the City's youth, energy, environmental and community outreach and engagement programs. She is truly blessed to be living out her passion: resourcing communities and creating opportunities for change. Aisha is a professional fund-raiser and grant writer who has worked with several notable non-profit organizations. She also serves on several advisory committees, including those of UNC-Charlotte, Johnson C. Smith University and TEDxCharlotte; all who call on her for her vast knowledge in engaging youth and communities typically thought of as "unreachable".
A Charlotte, North Carolina native, Aisha has a degree in English and Early Childhood Education from Hampton University and a Master of Social Work specializing in Administration and Planning from Temple University. Aisha is a believer in the power of public space to transform communities, through bringing people together across lines of difference and dedicates herself to a number of causes to advance this concept. She is known for pushing the boundaries of innovation and seeing opportunities where others see obstacles.
Though the constant community advocate, in her spare time, Aisha is an art and outdoor enthusiast. Aisha always carries these words from Oprah Winfrey in her mind and heart: "The big secret to life is there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you're willing to work"; Aisha loves to work!
