Aisha Tyler's talent and versatility have sparked her rapid ascent in Hollywood. Her significant role at the helm of E! Entertainment's "Talk Soup" not only revitalized the Emmy-winning show but also marked her as the first woman and African American to host it. Following her time on "Talk Soup," Tyler transitioned into television and film roles, becoming the first African American to play an extended character arc on NBC's "Friends." She co-starred with Jennifer Love Hewitt in the CBS hit "Ghost Whisperer," had recurring roles on top television dramas "CSI" and "24," and made appearances on shows like "Nip/Tuck," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Reno 911," and "The Boondocks." She is also known for voicing the character of Lana Kane on FX’s animated series "Archer," which debuted in January 2010 as the highest-rated new show in FX history.
In 2009, Tyler returned to her stand-up comedy roots with the one-hour special "Aisha Tyler Is Lit: Live at the Fillmore" aired on Comedy Central. Her comedic talent extends to her appearances on "The Tonight Show," "Late Night with David Letterman," "The Today Show," "Politically Incorrect," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "The Late Late Show," and other programs. Her film roles include performances in "Bedtime Stories," "Death Sentence," "Balls of Fury," and "Santa Clause III," as well as in films like "Black Water Transit" and ".45."
Tyler is not only a celebrated actor and comedian but also a published author. Her book "Swerve: Reckless Observations of a Post-Modern Girl," released in 2004, offers comic essays on pop culture. She contributes to Glamour magazine, discussing the media's portrayal of feminine beauty. Additionally, Tyler is deeply involved in charitable activities, serving as a spokesperson for the American Red Cross and teaching Dove self-esteem workshops for teenage girls. Her engagement extends to consulting for the Trust for Public Land's Parks for People project and fundraising for various organizations. Tyler's prowess extends into the gaming world as well; she was named to the exclusive seven-member Halo game counsel. Moreover, she holds the title of reigning Celebrity Jeopardy champion.
Tyler's contributions to entertainment have been recognized by various media outlets, including Esquire, TV Guide, and Maxim.
