Four-Time Indy 500 Winner & Owner of A.J. Foyt Enterprises

The only driver to win the Indy 500 four times, Foyt had 34 starts and logged a record 11,785 miles in the race, winning $2,448,000. His victories came in 1961, 196, 1967, and 1977.

A remarkably versatile driver, Foyt is the all-time leader in Indy car victories with 67 and he won the national driving championship in 1960, 1963, 1963, 1964, 1967, 1975, and 1979. He also had 41 victories in U. S. Auto Club stock cars, 7 in NASCAR stock cars, 29 in sprint cars, 21 in midget cars, 7 in sports cars, and 2 in championship dirt cars.

Foyt is one of only three drivers to win races on oval speedways, road courses, and dirt tracks in a single season; he did that in 1968. And he's the only driver to win the Indy 500, the NASCAR Daytona 500, and the 24 Hours of LeMans. He won at Daytona in 1972 and at LeMans in 1968, 1983, and 1985.

He was the USAC dirt car champion in 1975, the USAC stock car champion in 1968, 1978, and 1979.

The personable Foyt has parlayed his winnings into a personal fortune. He owns the largest auto dealership in Texas and has extensive interests in a oil wells, a hotel chain, and the largest funeral service business in the country.
