Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance

Akash Bandyopadhyay joined New York University Stern School of Business as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance in July 2015.

Professor Bandyopadhyay’s research interests are in the areas of asset pricing theory, models and empirical tests. He studies markets of partial liquidity, agents with asymmetric information and incomplete markets.

Professor Bandyopadhyay has received numerous teaching awards. He is five-time recipient of the Faculty Impact Award from the student association of Kellogg School of Management. The University of Chicago Booth business students cited him as the school's ‘most enthusiastic finance professor.’ He was also named in the “List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent” by the College of Business students of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Before joining NYU Stern, Professor Bandyopadhyay held faculty positions at Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University), Booth School of Business (University of Chicago) and College of Business at Illinois (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). He also worked as a research quantitative analyst at Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch and Société Générale before returning to academia.

Professor Bandyopadhyay received his B.Sc. with Honours in Physics, Mathematics and Statistics from Presidency College of the University of Calcutta. He received Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
