In his 27 years, Akshay Nanavati has explored the human condition in all its forms.
Akshay recovered from a life of drugs in high school to enlist in the toughest branch of the United States Military: the Marine Corps. Doctors told him that because of a debilitating medical condition known as Thallasemia, he would not be able to survive boot camp. But he persisted. Although his condition disqualified him from the Marines, he maintained his focus and after one year, he finally got his chance to set foot on the infamous yellow footprints at the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot in San Diego.
While serving six years in the Marines, he earned a bachelors degree in History and Philosophy, a Masters in journalism from the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and spent 7 months fighting the war in Iraq as a non-commisioned officer and member of the intel cell of his company.
In his spare time, he climbed mountains in the Himalayas, Africa, Bolivia, Alaska and the Cascades. He has ventured into the toughest environments the planet has to offer and has survived through all of them. His experiences skydiving, scuba diving, rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, cross country skiing and mountain biking have taught him the infinite capacity of the human potential. In May 2012, he spent one month skiing across the second largest icecap in the world in Greenland. In temperatures as low as -40 degrees he dragged a sled weighing 190 pounds across 350 miles.
Since then he has started two of his own businesses: a success coaching practice and an adventure company. As a trained success coach by the ICF accredited program, Accomplishment Coaching, he helps others live every day with passion and purpose.
Akshay uses his adventures in the outdoors, his experiences in 6 of the 7 continents, his passion as an entrepreneur and the knowledge he has gained as a trained coach and an avid student of success to inspire and transform the lives of the audiences he engages.
