Alan Carr
English Comedian and Television Personality
Since winning the BBC New Comedy Award for Stand-up as well as CityLife Best Newcomer of the Year in 2001, Alan Carr has become one of the hottest comedy stars in Britain. The success of the first series of his own chat show, "Alan Carr: Chatty Man," in the summer of 2009, led to Channel 4 commissioning further series' as well as Christmas Specials and his summer and New Year Specstaculars. Now the show is booked to continue into 2014. In September 2013, the 100th episode was aired with A-list guests, Justin Timberlake and Rihanna.
Alan's hit Channel 4 chat show "Alan Carr: Chatty Man" continues to go from strength-to-strength. It was a winner of the 2013 BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance and 2013 British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Entertainment Personality, and in previous years a clutch of awards from the 2012 National Television Award for Best Talk Show, and the 2012 Loaded LAFTA Award for Best Stand Up to the 2010 TV Choice Awards for Best Entertainment Show. There were also nominations for Best New British Comedy & Best Comedy Entertainment Personality at the 2009 British Comedy Awards. "Alan Carr: Chatty Man" is now firmly established as one of the nation's favorite entertainment TV shows.
Guests from the past 11 series include: Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Adele, Grace Jones, Drew Barrymore, Robin Williams, David Walliams, Mariah Carey, Russell Brand, Samuel L Jackson, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Robbie Williams, Bette Midler, Sharon Osbourne, One Direction, Gok Wan and Miranda Hart.
Alan Carr's New Year Specstacular aired on New Year's Eve 2011, 2012 and 2013 on Channel 4 and his Summer Specstaculars include a Grand National Special in 2013. Alan's Specstacular guests have included Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Russell Brand, Jack Whitehall, Abbey Clancy and Mo Farrah.
Alan's BBC Radio 2 show, "Going Out with Alan Carr," ran every Saturday ran between 2009-2012 with Alan presenting alongside the lovely Melanie Sykes.
In 2011, Alan traveled the country with his second live tour. Spexy Beast Live was a 33-date arena tour and culminated in the successful DVD of the same name. The DVD of Alan's 2007 stand-up show, Tooth Fairy Live topped the HMV charts and was a Christmas 2007 best-seller. His autobiography "Look Who It Is" was published in September 2008 by HarperCollins and has become a best-seller, selling over 375,000 copies to date.
Alan's inimitable Channel 4 quiz show, "Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong," first aired in 2008; and on Red Nose Day 2009 Alan co-presented Comic Relief on BBC One as well as joining the Men's Team for Comic Relief Does The Apprentice, alongside Jonathan Ross, Gerald Ratner, Gok Wan and Jack Dee. His team lost and Alan was fired (or as Alan Sugar put it “I'm doing you a favor”).
