Alan Downs, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and the former CEO of Michael's House. He has published several books, most recently The Velvet Rage: Overcoming the Pain of Growing Up Gay in a Straight Man's World and The Half Empty Heart.
Dr. Downs has over fifteen years of experience treating clients and is intensively trained DBT therapist. Currently, he is the director of the DBT Recovery Center which provides intensive outpatient treatment using Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
He received his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
