Alan Light    

American Journalist

Alan Light is a journalist who specializes in writing about music. He started working at Rolling Stone as an intern before becoming a fact checker and later senior writer. Most notably he has been a rock critic for the magazine.

Light was also the founding music editor for the magazine, Vibe. He became the Editor-in-Chief in 1990. In 1994, Light became editor-in-chief for Spin magazine where he stayed until 2002. He also worked as a music reviewer on WFUV radio and as a music correspondent for the NPR show Weekend America. Light regularly writes for the New York Times and the author of multiple books including What Happened, Miss Simone?, Let's Go Crazy, and The Holy or the Broken.

He is a graduate of Yale University.
