Alan Middleton has been touted as the most authoritative source of marketing knowledge in Canada. He has a degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, an MBA and Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, and 23 years of experience on the front lines of marketing in the UK, U.S., Norway, Japan, China and Canada. His accounts have included Bank of Montreal, Kodak, Pepsi Canada, Ralston Purina, IBM, New York Life Insurance, Pitney Bowes, Samsung and Speedy Muffler and York University.

He is an Assistant Professor of Marketing and Executive Director of Executive Development at York University's Schulich School of Business. Before joining Schulich he was President and CEO of the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency in Japan, and Executive Vice President and a director of the global company. He has also taught graduate and executive education courses in Argentina, Thailand, Russia, China and the United States. Building an international brand is the focus of his current research, for dot-com brands, packaged goods, financial services and food services industries.

In January 2005, Dr. Alan Middleton became the first inductee into the Canadian Marketing Hall of Legends in the Mentor category. He writes a monthly column for Marketing Magazine. He is also a co-founder of the Cassies, the only advertising awards in Canada to recognize business results.
