Alan Tenta

Public School Teacher, Resilience Expert & Winner of the History Channel's “ALONE”

At the age of 52, Alan became the oldest winner of the History Channel's survival show, "Alone". He overcame significant physical and mental challenges to outlast nine other competitors in the wilderness of northern Saskatchewan. His remarkable endurance and survival skills helped him achieve this ultimate adventure.

Growing up in the West Kootenays, Alan was introduced to the outdoors at a young age under the guidance of his father, which sparked his lifelong passion for the natural world. He graduated from UBC in 1996 and has been a teacher for 28 years. In 2016, Alan developed and implemented an outdoor education course at his local high school, where he shared his love for the wilderness with his students. It was his outdoor education class that initially encouraged him to apply for the survival show.

Winning "Alone" (Alone® HISTORY®) allowed Alan to push the limits of his physical and mental capabilities while using his skills as a bowhunter, fisherman, forager, and bushcrafter to outlast the competition. His experience on the show became the ultimate test of his survival expertise.

Alan is a public speaker, teacher, and content creator on his YouTube channel, Tenta Outdoors, where he continues to share his passion for the outdoors and inspire others with his knowledge of survival and wilderness skills.
