Actress and Comedian,Improvisto, El Banquito, Televén TV, Dr. Yaso

Journalist, actress and comedian. Alejandra Otero studied Communications in Universidad Monteávila. She started to work for the newspaper El Nacional as a freelancer in 2002, and had her own daily radio show on 100.7 FM for two years. At the same time, she worked as an actress of Catarsis Teatro Company. In 2005, started to be part of Alo Ciudadano, in Globovision, as one of the two co-hosts of the most important and popular news talk-show in Venezuela. After two years working on TV and writing for Contrabando Magazine, the publication that she founded with her mother, Alejandra decided to move to New York. There, she performed an internship at The New York Times Syndicate, took courses in Political Science at Columbia University, and worked for the Latin American Observatory. She earned her Master’s Degree in International Affairs with a concentration in Media and Culture at The New School. There, she discovered her passion for making documentaries about social issues. Today, she has directed three short films. Her last short documentary was about the National Network of Prison Symphony Orchestras in Venezuela. Two years ago, Alejandra found her best way of communication on acting and comedy. Currently, she is part of the TV comedy show Misión Emilio on Televen Channel and is one of the actresses of Improvisto, the leading improvisational theatre group in Venezuela. She has been very successful as a stand up comedian, publishes comedy articles on the Erika De La Vega’s website, and volunteers for Doctor Yaso, the NGO formed by hospital clowns.
