Aleph Molinari

Economist and Founder of the Fundación Proacceso ECO

Aleph Molinari studied Economics and Critical Theory at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

In 2006, in conjunction with the Universidad Autnoma de Mxico (UNAM), Aleph conducted an in-depth study on the effects of solid residue disposal and urban approaches to Mexico Citys periphery. The study formed the conceptual basis of a documentary film on the processes of Mexico Citys trash cycle and the lives of trash pickers living in the outskirts of the city.

In 2008 Aleph Molinari founded the Fundacin Proacceso ECO with the objective of reducing the digital divide and providing access to quality education. After two years of planning and designing the Red de Innovacin y Aprendizaje (RIA), or Learning and Innovation Network, Proacceso inaugurated the project in 2009 as a network of educational centers. Since then the network has grown to 42 centers located in marginalized communities in Mexico.

The RIA has reached more than 100,000 users in less than two years of operating, and more than 25,000 users have graduated from its courses. By the end of this year the network will expand to 70 centers allowing the RIA to reach approximately 350,000 users by the end of 2012.
