Alex Flanagan
Senior Vice President, Head of Sports Broadcasting & Media at The Familie; Former NFL Anchor & Reporter
Alex Flanagan is a pioneering female in the world of sports media. She began her award-winning television sports career in 1997 when female sportscasters like Alex were still unwelcome anomalies on football fields and in locker rooms. Alex was the first female anchor in the NFL Network studios, the first female on the Notre Dame football broadcast team (where she broadcast a game while 36 weeks pregnant), and is now the first Head of Broadcasting & Media at The Familie, a sports, music, and media talent agency.
Flanagan was a reporter for NBC's Football Night in America and NFL Network's Thursday Night Football, contributed to the Today Show, hosted the NFL Draft, and covered 12 Super Bowls and five Olympic Games. She spent the early part of her career working at local news stations and as a reporter and host for Fox Sports and ESPN.
In 2019, Flanagan made news when she quit her high-profile on-air job to begin a new career working behind the camera as a partner and Senior Vice President at The Familie agency. In her new role, She represents professional athletes and broadcasters and has negotiated millions of dollars in contracts for her clients. She also trains executives and athletes in media and communications.
Flanagan is a mother to three children. Her Daughter Grace plays Division 1 volleyball at Santa Clara University. Alex sits on the National Leadership Council for the University of Arizona, the Hashtag Sports Engagement Academy, The Sports Emmy Awards Judging Panel and is the founder of a digital youth sports media company. She graduated from the University of Arizona, where she was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta and is a recipient of the Gamma Phi Beta Carnation Award.
