Alex Salter is an M.D.-Ph.D. candidate, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center where he studies ways to make genetically modified T-cells better at killing cancer. The strategy is called CAR T-cell therapy, and involves a patient's immune cells being removed and reprogrammed in a lab to produce chimeric antigen receptor, which targets cancer. In 2019, Salter was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in healthcare.
