Registered Nurse, Mom of Three & Breast Cancer Survivor

With a 20-year background in communications & 10 years experience in healthcare, Alexa brings a unique perspective as a Registered Nurse accurately explaining in lay terminology her Stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis right after her 40th birthday.

From screening mammogram to diagnostic testing to consults to surgery to follow-up, Alexa deftly weaves the pathophysiology of medicine into a lively, light-hearted, inter-active informative talk which can be customized to your audience.

Having worked in the emergency department of a level 1 trauma center, elementary school health clinic, an income-based community free clinic, and corporate occupational health, Alexa is accomplished at communicating to many different types of patients and audiences. Previously, she taught English, ESL and writing at the community college level, as well as fitness and CPR classes in the community.

She is currently writing a book about her experience being a cancer patient who is also an RN, a how-to book, explaining the process of what happens when and questions to ask. Also, she is beginning a blog in spring 2015.
