She began running at the age of 30, and within four years of self-training had reached championship level. In 2004, she came 2nd in the Barcelona Marathon and 4th in the Greek championships. After winning most of her races, she turned to ultra endurance running, specialising in solo challenges that are always undertaken for either a sporting or other charitable cause.

Alex has achieved every single one of her solo challenges, and has never abandoned a challenge or a race, showing that her capacity to overcome obstacles and her mental strength are highly developed. In addition to being a leading athlete in her uniquely challenging field, Alexandra has a strong academic background having studied psychology and philosophy, receiving an honours degree.

She is an accomplished motivational speaker, author and columnist, and a successful businesswoman as owner of a sports management and events organising company.
