Knapp was born on July 31, 1989 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania.

At age 18, Knapp moved to LA and there she worked as a model before breaking into acting. She appeared in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief as Aphrodite Girl and in Couples Retreat. In 2012, she starred in Project X as Alexis and Pitch Perfect as Stacie.

Knapp dated actor Ryan Phillippe in the summer of 2010,before splitting in September 2010. After the break-up, Knapp discovered that she was pregnant, and gave birth to a daughter, Kailani Merizalde Phillippe Knapp, on July 1, 2011. She was pregnant with her daughter while filming Pitch Perfect and So Undercover.

She is a frequent user of Instagram and also is an avid fan of Battlestar Galactica (2004 TV series).

She will also star on upcoming TV series "Super Fun Night" with Ashley Tisdale.
