Eight-Time Paralympic Athlete; Alpine Skiier & Cyclist; LGBTQ+ Advocate

Allison Jones is a Paralympic skier and cyclist for the United States of America. She was born with the birth defect proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD), which left her without a right femur.

Born in Amarillo, Texas, she made her winter debut in Salt Lake City in 2002 as an alpine skier and her summer debut in 2004 as a cyclist. She’d go on to win eight Paralympic medals, including two golds, and win another 22 world championships medals, including 10 golds, in cycling. In 2012, she became just the second American woman ever to win gold medals in both the summer (cycling, road time trial, London 2012) and winter (alpine skiing, slalom, Torino 2006) Paralympics.

Jones has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Denver, where she won the Pioneer Award, the school’s highest undergraduate honor. Jones lives in Portland, Oregon, with her wife Sara Jarrell. She works full-time as an engineer.
