Alona Fyshe    

Assistant Professor; Expert on Computational Linguistics, Machine Learning & Neuroscience

Alona Fyshe investigates parallels between how human brains and artificial neural networks learn and represent information. Fyshe aims to demystify machine learning and enjoys helping people understand neural networks without needing to know the math behind them. She is an associate professor in the computing science and psychology departments at the University of Alberta and a fellow at the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute. She is also a Canada CIFAR AI Chair and a fellow in CIFAR's Learning in Machines and Brains program. She earned her BSc and MSc where she now teaches; she did her PhD in machine learning at Carnegie Mellon.
