Amit Bhatia

Chairman at Breedon Group & Chairman of the Queens Park Rangers Football Club

Amit Bhatia is a British entrepreneur and businessperson who founded Swordfish Capital Management LLP, Hope Construction Products Ltd., Global Relief Initiative and Swordfish Investments LLP. He has been the head of 6 different companies and over 15 years of corporate finance and private equity experience. Currently, he occupies the position of Non-Executive Chairman at Breedon Group Plc, Senior Partner at Swordfish Investments LLP and chairman of the Queens Park Rangers football club.

Bhatia has always had the entrepreneurial spirit; he used to sell photos of Cornell's freshman to parents who forgot their camera for $10 a pop. Following graduation, he got his start working at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley in New York. He took a year off from the investment world to volunteer in South America. Tired of working for "the man," shortly after he returned to the professional world he founded Swordfish Investments, a Mayfair-based private equity/venture fund, and Swordfish Capital Management, an investment management company. Investments ranged from education, media, telecoms, financial services, technology, to consumer goods and real estate.

Bhatia is married to Vanisha Mittal, the daughter of steel tycoon and Chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, Lakshmi Mittal, in a ceremony said to have cost as much as £60 million. They have three children. He was educated in Delhi at Columba's School until 1995, followed by Dulwich College in London, United Kingdom, in 1996, and at the British School in Delhi in 1997. Bhatia attended Cornell University where he studied Economics. He has since remained involved in alumni matters, now serving on Cornell's External Advisory Council for Internalization.

It's the end of an era at Loftus Road with the news that Tony Fernandes and Ruben Gnanalingam are stepping down as co-chairmen of Queens Park Rangers.
