Amna Nawaz is a senior national correspondent and primary substitute anchor for “PBS NewsHour,” which she joined in 2018. Her reporting covers politics, immigration, health care, foreign policy, race, and culture.

In 2019, her reporting as part of a “NewsHour” series on the global plastic problem received a Peabody Award, and later that year she became the first Asian American and Muslim American to moderate a presidential debate.

Nawaz was previously an anchor and correspondent at ABC News and a foreign correspondent at NBC News, including Islamabad bureau chief. She’s the founder and former managing editor of NBC’s Asian America platform, and recipient of an Emmy Award and Society for Features Journalism Award.
