Amy Bonsall, a business design director at IDEO London, helps clients and design teams approach innovation from an economic perspective, using business design to enable successful outcomes.

Amy also manages client relationships, oversees project content, and contributes to designs in diverse industries, from web entrepreneurship to financial services to healthcare.

Prior to joining IDEO, Amy served as a strategy consultant for Marakon Associates and a hardware designer for Hewlett-Packard. She also worked for four technology start-ups in the US and UK. She essentially went from being in the trenches and making products to working with senior executives on the strategic direction for their companies — and honed her keen business expertise along the way.

Amy earned an MBA from IMD in Switzerland and holds a master’s in electrical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the University of New Hampshire.

She loves learning about other cultures and speaking new languages. Outside of the office, Amy enjoys practicing the Argentine tango and photography, which demand agility and looking at things from a new perspective —skills she also finds useful in business innovation.
