Amy Chow

Retired American Gymnast & Olympic Gold Medalist; Licensed Pediatrician

Not only was Amy Chow a world-class gymnast, but she was also an accomplished pianist, a competitive diver during the summers, and an exceptional student. Today, she's a licensed Physician and Surgeon specializing in Pediatrics.

Born in the US, Chow is a child of parents who immigrated from Hong Kong and China and met in San Jose, California, where they still live.

Chow earned her MD from Stanford University and her residency in pediatrics at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University. Her research has been published in Critical Care Medicine and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. She completed her BS with honors in biological sciences at Stanford University with a 4.02/4.0 grade point average.

Central to Chow's sense of identity is her long career in gymnastics, including Olympic appearances in 1996 and 2000, where she won gold and silver medals. Chow is the inventor of two skills on the uneven bars, called "Chow I" and "Chow II." She is a member of the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame, US Olympic Hall of Fame Class of 2008, and a recipient of the outstanding Overseas Chinese Award.
