Amy Finkelstein    

Professor of Economics Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Amy Finkelstein is the Ford Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Her research is in health policy, and among other things, has used a Medicaid lottery to study the impact of expanding public health insurance to the low income uninsured in the United States using a randomized controlled design.

Finkelstein is a Member of the Institute of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and was previously a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows. Among her numerous awards are the John Bates Clark Medal, a Sloan Research Fellowship and a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.

She received her AB summa cum laude from Harvard, an MPhil from Oxford University where she was a Marshall Scholar and a PhD in Economics from MIT.
