CNN Hero of the Year 2017; Co-Founder & CEO of Bitty & Beau's Coffee

Amy Wright advocates for the value, inclusion, and acceptance of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), especially in the workplace. She owns Bitty and Beau's Coffee, named after her two youngest children with Down syndrome. Bitty and Beau's employs workers with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The original Bitty & Beau’s Coffee opened in January 2016 in Wilmington, NC. The shop was run by 19 employees with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Since its opening, it has moved from a 500-square-foot facility to a larger 5,000-square-foot building and now employs over 40 workers with plans to franchise the coffee shop.

Wright and the shop have been featured on The Today Show, Rachael Ray, CNN, Harry, Good Morning America, HLD, People Magazine, and Southern Living Magazine.

In 2017, Wright was awarded the CNN Hero of the Year award.
