Andrea Carafa is an Italian entrepreneur, design thinker, and educator committed to addressing social and global issues through innovation. He founded two ventures and researched, prototyped, and lectured about entrepreneurship, human-centered design and innovation at Stanford, the University of Milan Bicocca, Bocconi, the European Commission and CERN, among others. Andrea chaired the Impact Entrepreneurship Initiative at President Obama's Global Entrepreneurship Summit and advocated the establishment of the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations. He was an EU Marie Curie Fellow in emerging technology for social impact, co-created an EU-funded program aimed at spurring innovation and venture creation in European universities, and inspired CERN to launch a data analytics platform that accelerates the technology transfer from physics labs to society. Currently, Andrea is an Entrepreneur in Residence with the Blackstone Launchpad powered by Techstars and a Lecturer at UCSC and for the NSF Innovation Corps. He focuses on AI, science, and digital startups tackling social, health, financial, and environmental issues. He was named a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, an MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 Ambassador and Judge, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, a member of the Partnership on AI, and a delegate to the UN Science, Technology & Innovation Forum.
