One of the most influential and prominent health care leaders in the U.S., Andy Slavitt served as Acting Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) from 2015-2017, and is currently Board Chair of the non-profit organization United States of Care.

In his ongoing role with United States of Care, Slavitt is working with stakeholders at the state and federal level to ensure that every American has access to quality, affordable health care.

While at CMS, Slavitt led the turnaround of Healthcare.gov and the successful execution of a number of large new programs -- the Affordable Care Act, the shift to pay-for-value payment models, and the implementation of MACRA. His tenure was also marked by a cultural shift towards more engaged and transparent collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Prior to CMS, Slavitt's work centered on improving the consumer experience and access to care, data use and transparency, and delivery system reform. From 2003 to 2013, he worked at UnitedHealth Group, eventually serving as the Group Executive Vice President for Optum, where he oversaw the delivery of clinical, technology and operational solutions to health care clients and consumers.

Slavitt has an entrepreneurial background, having founded and served as CEO of HealthAllies, a technology-based consumer health care company. HealthAllies served people who are uninsured or underinsured via an online marketplace for health care services. He was also a consultant with McKinsey & Company, and an investment banker with Goldman Sachs.

Slavitt has been recognized as one of the 10 most influential people in health care by Modern Healthcare magazine. He is a graduate of the Wharton School and The College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.
