Activist

Angela Patton is the CEO for Girls For A Change and is the founding Executive Director of her own organization in Richmond - CAMP DIVA. CAMP DIVA started as a five-week summer retreat and has since expanded to offer several after-school programs, summer and other programs that empower African-American girls whom she refers to as "at-promise". In 2011 Angela became part of the GFC staff and is currently running GFC Richmond programming as an affiliate of Camp Diva.

Trained as a licensed practical nurse and a doula who assists pregnant women with pre- and post-natal care, Patton also serves on the Board of the East District Family Resource Center and has worked for Art 180, the Children's Museum of Richmond, the YMCA and the Richmond AIDS Ministry. Patton founded a group called Spa Travelers for women battling poverty, domestic violence and single motherhood before deciding to tackle these issues at earlier life stages through Camp Diva. Currently Angela is completing her BS degree in Business Administration from ECPI University and her certification in Non-profit Management from Virginia Commonwealth University. Recently, Angela has trained women who are dedicated to developing, strengthening, and expanding programs for African American girls to create programs to empower girls in their own communities.
