First Lady of Mexico, Singer & Telenovela Actress

Angélica Rivera is a Mexican singer and telenovela actress. As the wife of Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico, she is the First Lady of Mexico. Her work has included "La Dueña," "Ángela," "Sin Pecado Concebido," "Mariana de la Noche" and "Destilando Amor."

Rivera was born in Mexico City to a family of six brothers. One day she found out that actress Verónica Castro was filming a video in the street and she decided to snoop around. To her surprise, Castro approached her and suggested that she compete in The Face of the Herald, a contest Rivera won in 1987, which launched her career.

Rivera’s career began at the age of 17, after she won The Face of the Herald contest. She was a model in the video Ahora Te Puedes Marchar with Luis Miguel. She then filmed two TV/radio commercials, one for the United States and other for Japan, followed by the TNT video program hosted by Martha Aguayo.

In 1989, she received the opportunity to play a small part in the soap opera "Dulce Desafío." This part was followed by many others on shows such as "Simplemente Maria," "Mi Pequeña Soledad" and "La Picara Soñadora." In 1991 Rivera was selected to play the scheming and opportunistic Silvana in Alcanzar una estrella II. In 2003 she played a villain Marcia in the soap opera "Mariana de la Noche," produced by Salvador Mejía.

In 2007, she had the lead role in the novela "Destilando amor as Gaviota," a young girl from the country who went to the big city to look for a better life.

She published a series of videos which she called "What my eyes see, what my heart feels," where she documented her husband's presidential campaign from her point of view.
