AI Pioneer; Bren Professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the California Institute of Technology; Former Director of Machine Learning Research at NVIDIA

Anima Anandkumar is Bren Professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the California Institute of Technology where her work developing novel artificial intelligence algorithms enables and accelerates scientific applications of AI, including scientific simulations, weather forecasting, autonomous drone flights, and drug design. Previously, she was a Senior Director of AI Research at NVIDIA and Principal Scientist at Amazon Web Services.

Anandkumar is a fellow of the ACM, IEEE, and Schmidt Science, Guggenheim, and Alfred P. Sloan foundations. She has received other honors as well, including the NSF Career Award and Faculty Fellowships from Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and Adobe. She has received best paper awards at venues such as NeurIPS and the ACM Gordon Bell Special Prize for HPC-Based COVID-19 Research. She is part of the World Economic Forum's Expert Network.

Anandkumar studied electrical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras. She earned her doctorate at Cornell University and was a postdoc at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
