Ann and Gary Kochenberger

Mental Health Speakers on Bipolar Disease

Ann is a teacher, published author, and freelance writer; most of all she is wife of Gary, with whom she speaks to groups and at conferences about their struggles with her bipolar depression. Ann's book "Out of Focus...Again" narrates her struggle, and Gary's self-education about this illness, so that she could work through its debilitating symptoms again and again.

Ann Kochenberger has worked as a research writer at both the Penn State University and The Colorado School of Mines Foundations. She and her husband Gary live in Denver, Colorado.

Raised in Pueblo, CO as the eldest of six siblings, Ann remains very close to all of herbrothers and sisters. Her mother’s family owned and operated the T.G McCarthy Funeral Home, founded by her great grandfather in the late 1800′s.

By profession, she has been a substitute teacher in State College, PA, a researcher/writer at Penn State University, a classroom teacher in Colorado until 2002 and, currently, an author, freelance writer and inspirational speaker living in Denver.

As a happily married mother of two young children, she began experiencing periods of depression that was diagnosed when she was in her early thirties.

Ever since she wrote her memoir, in which her life with bipolar disorder is chronicled, she have been speaking to groups about mental illness in general, and living with it in particular. She and her husband advocate by speaking to groups and organizations about their journey with this debilitating illness.

The presentations are candid, filled with anecdotes and a bit of humor. They have been well received, and each commitment results in requests for future engagements. They want to take this to another level, and feel that we need an agent to accomplish it.
