Ann Curry

Anchor of "Chasing the Cure;" Former NBC Today Anchor, National & International Correspondent; Former Dateline Anchor

Ann Curry is a journalist and photojournalist, known for her reporting on human suffering in war zones and natural disasters. She worked at NBC for nearly 25 years in roles including co-anchoring the "Today" show, working as a national and international correspondent and anchoring "Dateline NBC."

She is now the anchor of "Chasing the Cure," a 90-minute series that will use a combination of crowdsourcing and top doctors to help people suffering from various undiagnosed and misdiagnosed medical mysteries.

She served as anchor of "NBC News at Sunrise," the network’s early morning newscast, from July 1991 until July 1996. She joined NBC News in June 1990 and became the NBC Chicago correspondent in October of that year.

Immediately following the September 11 terrorist attacks, Curry reported extensively from “ground zero” at the World Trade Center site, interviewing firefighters, local officials, emergency workers and victims of the attack. She followed that assignment up in November 2001 with a trip aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt stationed in the Arabian Sea, during a week which culminated in an exclusive interview with General Tommy Franks at Ramstein Air Force Base.

As a correspondent for "Dateline NBC," Curry scored an exclusive interview with the parents of the Iowa septuplets in 1997. Curry was the only reporter who was allowed full access into the hospital, the community and the McCaughey family. Since then, she has conducted follow-up interviews each year, updating viewers on the children’s progress. Curry also traveled to the Balkans in April, 1999 to report on the humanitarian refugee crisis in Kosovo. She was the first network news anchor on the scene, filing reports from Albania and Macedonia.

Before coming to NBC, Curry had been a reporter for KCBS in Los Angeles since 1984. There, she earned an Emmy Award for her live coverage of the October 1987 Los Angeles earthquake and another for her coverage of the explosion of a gas pipeline in San Bernardino. From 1981 to 1984, Curry was a reporter and anchor for KGW, the NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregon. She began her broadcasting career at another NBC affiliate in Oregon, Medford’s KTVL, where she served as a news reporter from 1978 to 1981.

Curry is a four-time winner of the Golden Mike award. In addition, she has received several Associated Press Certificates of Excellence and won a NAACP Award for Excellence in Reporting.
