Ann Shoket

Next Gen Expert & Community Builder; Former Editor in Chief of Seventeen Magazine; Author of "The Big Life"

Ann Shoket is best recognized for her tenure as the editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine from 2007 to 2014, a platform she used to engage and empower young women across the nation. She began her career in the media industry as a reporter at The American Lawyer, and was instrumental in the creation of the webzine Tag. She also held senior editorial roles at the Parade family of publications, and CosmoGIRL! magazine, demonstrating a consistent dedication to creating content for and about women. Her leadership and editorial vision culminated in initiatives such as a national leadership campaign with The White House Project, and the creation of the "CosmoGIRL! Born to Lead" patch program with The Girl Scouts.

Shoket’s ability to connect with audiences on a larger scale extended to her appearances as a judge on several episodes of "America's Next Top Model." Further expanding her influence, she delivered a thought-provoking TEDx talk at TEDxStLouisWomen in November 2017 titled "Why We Should All Be More Millennial," discussing the ways in which millennial women are redefining power and success. This theme is central to her work, and is further explored in her book "The Big Life," published by Penguin Random House. The book serves as a guide aimed at helping ambitious young women redefine power and success, reflecting Shoket's own journey in the media industry.

The breadth of Shoket’s experience is further demonstrated through her founding of New Power Media, a media and events platform focused on building communities to support mutual achievement and success. As a speaker at major events and for corporations like SXSW, TEDx, Microsoft, and Facebook, she leads discussions nationwide, focusing on how women and new generations redefine power and success. She has also served as a consultant and regular contributor on "Good Morning America," reinforcing her position as a voice of authority and inspiration for women everywhere.
