12 Commandments For People Who Work With People

Dr. Ann Threadgill White was born in Cherokee County, South Carolina. Later her family moved to Spartanburg County where she continues to make her home. Ann grew up watching "I Love Lucy", and enjoyed this program so much that she wanted to be funny like Lucy. In school, she was always telling funny stories to her friends and teachers. As a young girl, she learned to love entertaining others. She put her gift of humor to use during her first career in education, beginning as a classroom teacher, progressing to a library media specialist, then a public information director and ending as an assistant superintendent of personnel.

Today, she uses that gift even more in her second career as a professional speaker, humorist and consultant through her business, Laugh And Learn With Ann White. She has been published in a variety of professional journals and travels throughout the U.S. and internationally speaking to audiences ranging from teenagers to corporate leaders, inspiring them to meet the challenges of their public and private lives.

Ann received her bachelor's degree in social studies from Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina; a master's degree in secondary school counseling from the University of South Carolina; and a doctorate of education in school administration from Nova Southeastern University. She is a member of numerous national and state organizations including the National Speakers Association, the Carolinas Speakers Association, American Business Women's Association, Altrusa International, Phi Delta Kappa, the South Carolina Association of School Librarians and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. She is a past president of the South Carolina Association of Allied School Administrators and the South Carolina Association of School Librarians. Among her many honors and awards she has been named Communicator of Achievement by Media Women of South Carolina, an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women, and received the Distinguished Service Award from the South Carolina Association of School Librarians.

Ann and her husband, William, who is the mayor of Cowpens, South Carolina, have three children and two grandchildren. They have two cats, Doodle and Sable.
