Anna Akana is actress, comedian, filmmaker, musician, and YouTuber. She launched her career in 2011 with the creation of her YouTube channel, which now boasts over 2.84 million subscribers and 376 million total views as of April 2024. Aside from her YouTube channel, she is also recognized for writing and starring in the digital series “Riley Rewind” in 2013, which accrued over 25 million views across various platforms including YouTube, Facebook, and Netflix.

Akana's acting career covers a broad spectrum, from roles in TV series and films such as "Awkward" (2011), Marvel's "Ant-Man" (2015), and the Netflix original film "Blade of the 47 Ronin" (2022), to serving as the lead and executive producer of Youtube RED's "Youth & Consequences". She has also appeared in recurring roles in Comedy Central's "Corporate" and lent her voice to characters in Disney Channel shows like "Big City Greens" and "Amphibia".

Aside from her acting career, Akana has also made strides in the world of fashion and literature. She launched a clothing line called Ghost & Stars in 2015 and authored a book titled "So Much I Want to Tell You: Letters to My Little Sister" in 2017, in which she discusses her experiences, ranging from her sister's suicide to her own celebrity status.

Her musical endeavors are equally noteworthy, with her debut album "Casualty" released in October 2019 and an EP titled "No Longer Yours" following in 2021. She has also released several music singles and videos, such as "Intervention", "Casualty", and "Pretty Girls Don't Cry".

She has been listed in the New Media Rockstars Top 100 Channels in 2014, ranked at #72, and won the Digital Pioneer Award at the San Diego Asian Film Festival in 2014. Her series "Youth & Consequences" garnered her a Streamy Award for Acting in a Drama in 2018 and a nomination for Outstanding Digital Drama Series at the 46th Daytime Emmy Awards in 2019. She was also nominated for Best Actress at the Streamy Awards in 2015 for her work on "SnapperHero".

In addition to her professional engagements, Akana has used her platform to address serious issues such as suicide prevention. She has been very vocal about her personal experiences and has shared her story in her YouTube video "please don't kill yourself". In 2024, Akana embarked on a standup comedy tour titled "It Gets Darker", further showcasing her versatility and talent.
