Annabelle Gurwitch is a New York Times Bestselling author, comedic actress, television host most recognizable from her stint as a hostess on Dinner and a Movie on TBS, and activist associated with environmental issues and secular humanism.

As an actress, Gurwitch has worked extensively Off-Broadway and on the west coast, best known to TV audiences from her years as the original hostess on Dinner and a Movie on TBS.

She is the author of four books, most recently, the essay collection, Wherever You Go, There They Are: Stories About My Family You Might Relate To. Her book I See You Made an Effort, which was a New York Times bestseller and Thurber Prize for American Humor Writing finalist was adapted as a solo show and then toured nationally in 2017. As well, her book You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up, coauthored with Jeff Kahn, was turned into a play that has run in over 30 cities.

Gurwitch also wrote, produced and starred in Fired! a documentary, which was adapted as a Showtime Comedy Special and radio play for LA TheaterWorks.

Her essays and satire have been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, McSweeney's, O Magazine,, Lena Dunham’s Lenny Newsletter, amongst other publications. She was a regular commentator for NPR’s All Things Considered and Day to Day on KPCC. Her frequent media appearances include commentaries on The PBS News Hour, Real Time with Bill Maher, CBS Early Show, and The Today Show.
