Born and raised in Chicago, attended all white Mennonite schools as young black girl. Realized at early age her dreams met something and so she decided to write what those dreams met, and wrote Five Black Women. 25 short stories of her life which includes chapter of how her family won the lottery.
She then started a corporation comprised of Five Black Women, those first five black women working at Xerox when diversity was unheard of. She decided when she was not promoted to develop and start her own company, and so she did.
