Anthony Davis, often referred to by his initials AD, is a professional basketball player currently with the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a nine-time NBA All-Star and has earned distinctions in four All-NBA First Teams and five NBA All-Defensive Teams. In his first season with the Lakers, he won an NBA championship in 2020. He further showcased his skills by leading the Lakers to victory in the NBA Cup in 2023. In recognition of his professional achievements, he was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team as one of the most consequential players in the history of the league.

Davis played college basketball for the University of Kentucky, where he received various accolades, such as first-team All-American and the Consensus National Player of the Year. His excellent defensive skills earned him the USBWA National Freshman of the Year, NABC Defensive Player of the Year, and the Pete Newell Big Man Award. As a testament to his shot-blocking prowess, Davis set Southeastern Conference and NCAA Division I freshman single-season blocked shots records. He led Kentucky to a National Championship and was designated as the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA tournament.

After his successful college career, Davis was selected as the first overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans, then known as the New Orleans Hornets, and played in the 2012 Olympics. His rookie season was met with success, earning him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He continued to excel in subsequent seasons, earning his first All-Star title and leading the NBA in blocked shots per game. Davis's offensive prowess also shone through, becoming the youngest player to score at least 59 points in an NBA game. In 2017, he received the NBA All-Star Game MVP Award after setting a scoring record of 52 points in the game. Davis joined the Lakers in 2019.

Internationally, Davis has amassed two gold medals with the United States national team in the 2012 Olympic team and 2014 World Cup team. This achievement marks him as the first player in basketball history to win an NCAA title, NBA title, Olympic Gold Medal, and FIBA World Cup. Davis also represented the United States in the 2024 Paris Olympic team, winning a gold medal. Aside from his basketball career, Davis has made appearances in films such as "Barbershop: The Next Cut" and "Space Jam: A New Legacy," as well as television shows like "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Impractical Jokers."
