Former Member of the U.S. House of Representatives

Former Congressman Toby Moffett is a well-known advocate in the Democratic Party. During his four terms in the House, he chaired major committee investigations into nuclear safety, groundwater contamination, and Clean Air Act violations.

He consistently ranked in the top five of all 435 House members on environmental issues. The Consumer Federation of America chose him as the top consumer advocate in Congress, and the National Youth Workers Alliance similarly honored him.

His post-Congress career has included several years as a TV anchor and investigative journalist. He was the first US journalist to have a series of reports appear on then-Soviet television uncensored by authorities.

Moffett is a frequent speaker to student audiences and gatherings of professional groups. He has years of experience working with students and other young people on progressive causes. He has worked on a volunteer basis in presidential, Senate, and House campaigns. He is currently a pro bono adviser to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Moreover, Moffett has extensive experience in international matters. He has worked with the governments of many developing countries, particularly in Africa. He is a Lebanese-American who has been deeply involved in Middle East issues.
