Olympic Javelin Record Holder & Pakistan's First Individual Gold Medalist

Arshad Nadeem is a Pakistani javelin thrower who made history for his country in international athletics when he became Pakistan’s first individual Olympic medalist. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, he won gold, setting an Olympic and Asian record with a throw of 92.97 meters. His performance surpassed defending champion Neeraj Chopra of India by 3.52 meters.

Nadeem grew up in a rural area of Pakistan, where he trained with homemade javelins in local fields. Despite these challenges, he went on to win gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games with a throw of 90.18 meters, setting a national and Commonwealth Games record. In 2023, he became the first Pakistani to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships, earning silver.

Nadeem competes for the Water and Power Development Authority in Pakistan's National Games.
