Asha Bandele    

Author of "The Prisoner's Wife"

Asha Bandele is an author, poet, and journalist most well known for her debut book The Prisoner's Wife, a lyrical memoir about a young black woman's romance and marriage with a man who was serving a twenty-to-life sentence in prison.

Bandele also wrote the memoir Something Like Beautiful, and is the author of two collections of poems and the novel, Daughter. Previously, Bandele was a features editor for Essence Magazine. She also contributed to When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir along with Patrisse Khan-Cullors.
